Conservation Commission Draft Minutes for January 11, 2007


Attending were: Trisha McCarthy, Peter Mears, Pat Wonson, Nancy Slombo, Alicia Raddatz

Trisha McCarthy called the meeting to order at 7:40pm

An emergency meeting was called to discuss the application issues of obtaining a Grant that would be beneficial to Busch Farms.

        Alicia made a motion to move that we authorize Trisha to write a letter to Bureau of Trails to enter into an agreement for Recreational Trails Program, Grant Application FY 2007. Trisha will write a letter of permission as property land  owner and grant application organization, then send in completed application.

Grant request is for $30,000.00
Matched pledge of $30,000.00

Improvements to the Busch Farm include;
        Repair the culverts, adding three or four more culverts.
        Improve and level parking.
        Installation of a gate and access emergency equipment.
Upgrade current trails, improve drainage issues, York Take the trails, restore trail   edges from flooding.
Add a beaver deceiver
Create a survey plan of the property- boundaries, topography, wetland resources, existing trails.
        Prepare dredge and fill permits for culverts/ wetland crossing.
        Institute Japanese knotweed eradication project.
Coordinate a public outreach program, which would include signs and brochure with map of trails.
-       Our goal is to create the Busch Farm into a more user-friendly atmosphere.
Comments may be sent to Alicia Raddatz by Tuesday night. The commission is also seeking letters of support.
