The Newton Police Department has recently activated its’ all hazards utility trailer. The trailer, which is part of the Town’s 2010 Hazard Mitigation Plan, is a used 2007, dual axle, utility type box trailer, was purchased for $3,200. The trailer houses traffic cones, barricades, emergency lighting and two (2) OHRV’s. The Two (2) OHRV’s were part of an asset forfeiture several years ago and the cones and barricades have been purchased over the past few years. The Explorer is a 2002, which has been on-line for several years and was also purchased used primarily through a Homeland Security Grant and some asset forfeiture funds. Those of us that had the misfortune of experiencing our last two (2) winters in Newton should recognize the value of
