MEETING MINUTES

Call to Order: 10:00 a.m.

In Attendance: Lynne Camp, Chairperson; Kathy Meserve, Treasurer; Anne Banks, Secretary; Terry Caswell, Director; Julie Lamere, Alternate.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting (September 13, 2017): Kathy moved to accept the minutes, Lynne seconded the motion which passed unanimously

Correspondence and Communications: Terry received an email informing her that the Boston Bruins Hockey team had awarded one of our young patrons a hockey jersey signed by the team. This was part of the Bruins effort to encourage literacy through participation in the summer reading programs throughout the state. We all also received the NHLTA newsletter and a notice about regional meetings taking place.

Library Director’s Report: Terry noted a correction to the previous month’s (August) director’s report: the number of books read as part of the teen reading program was 42, not 21 as originally stated. We had no corrections to make to September’s Director’s Report. Lynne moved to accept the Director’s report as written. Kathy seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report: Anne moved to accept the Treasurer’s report as written. Lynne seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Unfinished Business:

Library Director’s Annual Evaluation: The Trustees gave Terry a hard copy of her annual review. Next month we will discuss with her any issues or questions she might have after reading the evaluation.

Collection Development Policy Review and Signage: The Trustees reviewed the policy as amended at our last month’s meeting. Lynne moved to accept the policy as amended. Kathy seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Trustees then signed the policy.

New Business:

Kara Hahn – change in position from Page to Library Assistant I/Float: Our Page positions are held by High School students. Once the student graduates they are reclassified as Library Assistant I/Float. Kara Hahn has graduated so we need to reclassify her. Kathy moved that we change Kara Hahn’s position from Page to Library Assistant I/Float at grade 4/step 8, with a salary increase from $9.17 to $10.38 per hour. Anne seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Preliminary 2018 Budget Review: The Trustees and Director reviewed the budget worksheet and agreed on the figures to submit to the town for 2018. Kathy will update the YTD figures at the end of the month on October 31st. Terry will submit the proposed budget to town hall once Kathy has done that.

Acceptance of Donations: Patrons $1.55/ Books; Tricia DeSando – Two Boxes of Greeting Cards: Lynne moved we accept from patrons-$1.55/Books; from Tricia DeSando – Two Boxes of Greeting Cards; Anne seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
