Gale Library News – 12/15/21

By Hayley Van-Gils

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM ALL AT THE GALE LIBRARY, WE HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS SEASON!

Christmas Closures: The library will closed on Friday December 24th and Saturday December 25th in celebration of Christmas. We will be back in the building on Monday December 27th from 12-6pm!

A Huge Thank You! We would like to thank our wonderful community for the food pantry donations received during November. Many items were collected and passed on to those in need this season.

New Year Closures: The library will closed on Friday December 31st and Saturday January 1st in celebration of New Year. We will be back in the building on Monday January 3rd from 12-6pm!

Adult Craft Kit! A new kit will be available for each week until December 20th and will include Christmas Gnomes, Santa Pants Plant Pots, Decorative Christmas Trees and Pom-Pom Book Marks. These adult craft kits are extremely popular, so if you want to make sure you get one, please call or email the library and we will put one aside for you! While supplies last! Please take one per adult and feel free to post a picture of your finished craft on our Facebook Page!

Save the Date! Thursday Jan 20th at 6:30pm: Take a fun and nostalgic journey through the most iconic and greatest era of rock-and-roll history with author and pop culture historian Marty Gitlin. This presentation highlights performance videos of influential British Invasion superstars such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Hollies, Dave Clark Five and The Who as well as American bands that provided a wonderful reply such as the Beach Boys, Mamas and Papas, Temptations, Byrds, Monkees and Simon & Garfunkel. The program also discusses how these artists influenced pop culture and society, compares and contrasts the music, and includes trivia questions for patrons to ponder (including snippets of songs from which patrons must identify the band!). The presentation will conclude with a question-and-answer period. This program is a lot of fun, so join in!

FOR THE CHILDREN:

Tuesday's at 10am, Preschool Story Time: Join us in person every Tuesday at 10am for preschool story time! We will read a collection of stories, sing some songs and we'll even have our themed craft kits to take home. Space in the children's room is limited so please call in advance to sign up! PLEASE NOTE: There will be no more live Story Times after Dec 21st... Check back in with the library in 2022 for updated programming information!

Harry Potter Read Aloud! Do you love Harry Potter? So do we! Tune in to one of our social media sites every Wednesday where we will post a new chapter of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone each week! Videos will be posted every Wednesday via our Facebook Page and YouTube Channel! Please check back in with the library in 2022 for updated children's programming information!

Craft Kit Pick Up: Stop by the library and pick up your craft kit. There are two crafts to make at home, coloring pages and a puzzle to challenge you! New kits are put out each Tuesday... while supplies last! Please note: there will be no crafts during the weeks of 12/21 and 12/27!

1000 Books Before Kindergarten: The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless.  Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes, you can repeat books) before your little one starts kindergarten. Sign up now to get started… call or email for more information 603-382-4691 or galelibyouthservices@comcast.net
