The Gale Library has some fun programs planned for May! On Wednesday, May 10th at 6pm, we invite patrons ages 7+ to join us in making decoupage pressed flower votive jars for Mom! This program does require registration. Also, on Saturday, May 13th from 10 -12 we invite patrons of all ages to drop in to make cards and key chains for Mom! There is no registration required for our drop in crafts.

On Saturday, May 27th we will be hosting a fun game of Bingo for Books! Bingo will begin at 10am and will be played until everyone is a winner!

On Wednesday, May 31st at 6pm in preparation for summer we will be holding a braid night. We will teach you how to prevent summer tangles and create protective style to minimize damage from all that summer fun. Kids are invited to bring Barbie and/or American Girl style dolls to practice on. We also ask that you bring your own hair brushes and hand mirrors if you have them. This program is open to all ages and parents and guardians are encouraged to attend. There is no registration required for this program.

The Friends of the Gale Library would like to invite any interested townspeople to join their ranks in fundraising for the betterment of the Gale Library. This wonderful group meets on the second Tuesday of the month (this month it will be May 9th) at 1pm at the library. Their meeting is open to all.

The Friends are also raffling off a beautiful quilt donated by Newton’s own Carol Szot! The tickets for the raffle are $5/each or 3 for $10. The winner will be drawn on Friday, May 26th, so stop by the library to purchase your tickets and see the quilt first hand!

Have a preschooler? Join us for Storytime on Tuesdays at 10am! We discuss the day’s weather, read 3 themed books, play a game and do a craft that coincide with the week’s theme. The planned themes for this month are: “Dragons and Unicorns”, “Mother’s Day”, “Home”, “Flowers, Trees and Gardens” and on May 30th Firefighters and other service people and we will be hosting a special guest! There is no sign-up required for Storytime. Can’t make it to Storytime? The Gale Library offers themed weekly craft bags on a first come first serve basis, unless otherwise marked.
