The Gale Library has some exciting events coming up for the month of September and we would love for you to join us!

During the month of September, we will be celebrating new card sign-ups! Youth who come in to sign up for their first library card will receive a box of school supplies (while supplies last).

We will be hosting our weekly Storytime every Tuesday at 10 a.m. This month’s themes are: pets, the five senses, autumn, and apples/harvest. We will be discontinuing our porch pick-up craft bags, however, we will do an in-house craft that will remain set-up with weekly themed book offerings on one of the tables in the Youth Room. Also, we always have our craft cart available if you want to stop in and get creative!

Enjoy crocheting, knitting, embroidery, or some other creative yarn craft? Join our Yarn Group every Friday at 1 p.m. while they create a variety of personal projects and share knowledge and ideas of all things yarn!

On Wed., September 20, we will be hosting our monthly Youth Loom Knitting Club at 6 p.m. When you join, you are given a 12-peg loom and a ball of beautiful brightly-colored yarn to get you started! This program is recommended for youth ages 7+. All existing members are encouraged to come to show what you have accomplished in the last month, get questions answered, and enjoy the camaraderie of the loom club! New members are welcome, but need to sign -up ahead of time by contacting the library or stopping and adding your name to the list located on the youth room circulation desk.

On Sat., September 23 we will be celebrating the Autumnal Equinox with a drop-in craft from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. where we will have a variety of leaf-based crafts, from leaf rubbing and painting on real leaves to creating a lion or hedgehog with artificial leaves. This program does not require a preregistration.

On Wed., September 27 at 6 p.m., we will be creating Leaf Gnome Face wall hangings. This program is recommended for patrons ages 7+ and requires pre-registration.

The Friends of the Gale Library are holding their annual Book Sale on Sat., September 30 from 8 a.m. — 1 p.m. at Estabrooks Garage located at 26 S. Main Street in Newton. They will have the option to fill a Market Basket grocery bag with books for $3 or to purchase a canvas Gale Library tote for $15 and fill it for free. The funds raised by the book sale enable the friends of the library to sponsor museum passes and other activities to benefit library patrons of all ages.

If you would like to join us for any of our programs, please feel free to contact us at 603-382-4691 or by email at galelibyouthservices@comcast.net or stop-in to see us Monday 12-6 p.m., Tuesday 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday 12-8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. or Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
