A Very Huge Thank You! The Friends of the Gale Library would like to say a huge thank you to all those that helped to make this year’s Summer Book Sale such a success. We would like to thank those that helped in the preparation and planning stages, all that donated books and funds, and all that came to support the Library and purchase books. Your generosity and community spirit are truly valued and appreciated. THANK YOU!

Monday, Oct 11 Library Closed for Columbus Day: The Gale Library will be closed on October 11th in observance of Columbus Day. Have a fun and safe day!

The Gale Library doors are open, Mondays and Wednesdays 12-6 & Tuesdays and Saturdays 9-1: It is strongly recommended that all visitors wear face masks and social distance by 3 feet. Hand sanitizer is requested upon entering and exiting the building. Curbside service is still available. Book returns are to be placed in the porch book drop box.  Books are sanitized before going back into the collection. Computer, FAX, and copier use is available with limited access for up to 30-min. block of time. If you aren't feeling well, please stay home. Thank you!

FOR THE CHILDREN:

Tuesday's at 10am, Outdoor Preschool Story Time: Join us in person every Tuesday at 10am for preschool story time! Call us to sign up, park the car, grab a seat outside and enjoy story time! Miss. Hayley will read a collection of stories, sing some songs and we'll even have our themed craft kits to take home. 

Wednesday’s from October 6 from 4:30 – 5:30pm, Harry Potter Club! Do you love Harry Potter? We do too! Join us in the children's room every Wednesday from Oct 6 as we read aloud the first book 'The Sorcerer’s Stone'. We'll also make some awesome Harry Potter style crafts… Dragon Egg Terrariums, Magic Wands, Floating Candles, and much more. This is a drop off program suitable for ages 8+. Saturday, Oct 9 from 10am – 11am, STEAM Saturday: Join us as we work together to design and build pumpkin stands out of recycled materials. Will your stand hold the weight…  Are you up for the challenge? Then call or email now to sign up!

Saturday, October 23 from 4:30 - 6:30pm: Trunk or Treat... Behind Memorial Elementary School! Join us for this year’s Trunk or Treat, sponsored by Newton Recreation Commission. Find the Gale Library Trunk Behind Memorial Elementary School, 31 West Main Street, Newton! We’ll have goodie bags and book giveaways, and our Youth Services Librarian will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about your local library and programming!

Craft Kit Pick Up: Stop by the library and pick up your craft kit. There are two crafts to make at home, coloring pages and a puzzle to challenge you! New kits are put out each Tuesday... while supplies last!

Fall Scavenger Hunt! Can you find all of the items in our Fall Scavenger Hunt? Stop by the library front door and pick up a scavenger hunt and pencil. Email us a picture of your completed hunt (or one of you finding the items!) and you will win a prize! HAPPY HUNTING! Send pictures to Hayley at galelibyouthservices@comcast.net.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten: The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless.  Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes, you can repeat books) before your little one starts kindergarten.
