By Michelle Baker, Library Director

Summer may be ending, but you can borrow & enjoy our new nature, science, and art youth kits all year long!

The Gale Library added these kits during our summer reading program this year, expanding our activity kit collection for ages 0-5 to include kits for ages 5 and older. Borrow a kit to explore birds or bugs in your backyard with binoculars, magnifying glasses, and creature identification books. Explore the science of light and electricity with prisms, lenses, and an electric circuit game. Learn to loom knit, create bracelets and figures with colorful mini-rubber bands, or draw amazing geometric shapes with a Super Spirograph Design Set. Take those engineering interests to the next level with our ultimate fort builder kit, connecting the poles to build forts large enough to fit inside.

The Gale Library added these exciting new kits thanks to a NH State Library Summer Learning Grant. Funding for the NH State Library Summer Learning Grant is provided by the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation and funds administered by the NH State Library and provided by the Institute for Museum and Library Services.

Did you know we have a monthly Loom Knitting program for youth ages 7 and older? Join us each third Wednesday of the month (September 20th this month!) at 6:00 p.m. to learn loom knitting and share your projects. New attendees receive a 12-peg loom and a ball of yarn to keep. Thank you to the Friends of the Gale Library for sponsoring this program and to Charlotte's Web in Exeter for donating the yarn!

Come visit us on Monday 12-6, Tuesday 9-1, Wednesday 12-8, Friday 9-3, or Saturday 9-1.
