Trunk or Treat was a Smash!

The Newton Recreation Commission held its Annual Trunk or Treat on October 28, and it was fun for all ages. Coordinated by Vanessa Burrill, the event drew some 200 children and adults.

The trunks were creative and entertaining, and children had fun going from scene to scene. The winners of the trunks contest were: Funniest - Men in Black by the Campbell Family; Scariest - Scary Ambulance by the Newton Fire Department Brown and Cowden Families; Most Original - Haunted Shipwreck - Memorial School Fifth Grade Girls led by Kelly Perry; and Overall Best - Zombie Fearleaders - Memorial School Third Grade Girls led by Tina Maneiro, Ashley Silvia, and Alisha Carroll.

There was food, music and, of course, lots of candy. Sanborn Regional High School Key Club Members kept things going with their volunteer efforts. Isabella McCarthy, Madi Feener, Summer Campbell, Mackenzie Oprea, Megan Flaherty, and River DeFeo did a great job pitching in wherever needed.
